Water is a vital necessity in our lives. Water used for everyday purposes such as drinking, bathing and for washing clothes and kitchen equipment must meet health requirements. Water containing pathogenic bacteria or other dissolved substances can lead directly to health. This can occur when sanitation is poor. When the ground water and surface water contaminated with feces, it will spread to the source water used for household. Water can also be polluted by heavy metals that are toxic or because the content of iron and manganese ions high, as occurs in most parts of Bandung. Allow dense residential well water contamination by dirt, because the location of adjacent wells with septic tank (toilet) or adjacent to sewerage household / factory.
The use of low quality water such as that for consumption, in the short term, can lead to vomiting, diaries, cholera, typhoid and dysentery. In the long term can lead to bone diseases, tooth decay, kidney and liver damage.
The use of low quality water for bathing and washing purposes also result directly in the eye and skin health. Germs scabies, ringworm and ulcers can be easily transmitted through water. Eye disease is also easily transmitted through water. The skin can become irritated, dry, dull and blackish when using water containing iron and manganese ions are high. The food we eat can be contaminated by the equipment kitchen / dining washed with contaminated water.
